Direct hire
Direct hire placement for engineers and architects
Direct hire means Conntal finds and screens a permanent employee for your team, and you hire them onto your payroll from day one. You pay a one-time placement fee calculated against first-year base salary. Every candidate passes the same practitioner screen as our contract engineers, including enterprise architects and platform leads.

How it works
From brief to signed offer.
- 01
Scope with a practitioner
An engineer who runs the platform reads the role and tells you what a senior hire must already know on day one. - 02
Search and screen
Candidates go through the published scenario for the role before a CV reaches you. - 03
Your interviews
You interview a short list that has already passed the technical bar, so your time goes on fit and team, not basics. - 04
Offer and start
We support the offer and the notice period, and the replacement window is written into the agreement.
Where direct hire fits
Roles that usually suit a permanent hire.
Enterprise architects
Direct placement of enterprise and solution architects who have owned a target-state architecture through delivery, not just drawn it.
Platform owners
Engineers who will own a Kafka, RabbitMQ or Kubernetes platform long term, after a migration or upgrade lands.
SRE and DevOps leads
People who will set the on-call, error-budget and delivery standards a team works to.
ServiceNow ITOM owners
Discovery and CMDB owners who keep a CMDB accurate after the implementation partner leaves.
When to choose contract-to-hire instead
If the platform is new to your team and you need to see the engineer on real work first.
When to choose contract instead
If the work has an end date and no in-house owner afterwards.
Roles we staff
Every role has a published screen.
The scenario each candidate is put through is on the role page, so you can judge the bar before you brief us.
FAQ
Direct hire: what buyers ask
Something not covered here? Send the requirement and a practitioner answers it, not a sales queue.
What is direct hire staffing?
Direct hire staffing is when an agency finds and screens a candidate who becomes your permanent employee from the first day. The agency is paid a one-time placement fee; there is no ongoing contract margin.
How are direct hire fees calculated?
As a one-time fee calculated against the hire's first-year base salary, agreed before the search starts. The fee and the replacement window are both written into the agreement.
Do you place enterprise architects on a direct-hire basis?
Yes. We place enterprise and solution architects on a direct-hire basis. The screen asks candidates to defend a real target-state decision under constraints, not to recite a framework.
What is the difference between direct hire and contract-to-hire?
Direct hire puts the person on your payroll from day one. Contract-to-hire starts them on contract through the agency, with the option to convert at the end of an agreed window.
What happens if a direct hire does not work out?
Placements carry a defined replacement window, in writing. If the hire leaves or is let go within it, we run a replacement search under the same agreement.
Can you place a fractional or interim architect instead?
If the need is part-time or time-boxed, a contract engagement usually fits better than a permanent hire. We will tell you which model suits the work before we start a search.
Tell us the role. A practitioner scopes it, not a recruiter.
Send the requirement — or the job description you are not happy with — and an engineer who runs this technology will tell you what is missing before we source anyone.
