The short answer
ServiceNow's Brazil family entered early availability on 24 September 2026. For Discovery teams, the change to act on is that findOrCreateRelationshipType is deprecated from Zurich Patch 10, Australia Patch 3 and Brazil: it no longer creates CI relationship types and returns an error if the type does not exist, so custom scripts should move to findCIRelationshipType. Brazil also adds PowerShell 7 support on the MID Server and optional UDP and OS-guess credential-less scans.

ServiceNow's Brazil family reached feature early availability on 24 September 2026, with Brazil Patch 1 following on 8 October for early-availability customers [1]. Most of the release notes are about AI. For teams who run Discovery and the CMDB, three items matter more [2].
1. findOrCreateRelationshipType stops creating
The findOrCreateRelationshipType function is deprecated beginning with Zurich Patch 10, Australia Patch 2 Hotfix 2a, Australia Patch 3 and Brazil [2]. It no longer creates CI relationship types: it finds an existing type and returns an error if the type does not exist [2]. ServiceNow's guidance is to update custom scripts to use findCIRelationshipType instead [2].
2. PowerShell 7 on the MID Server
Brazil adds two MID Server configuration parameters that prefer PowerShell 7 over the default PowerShell 5, on the MID Server and on remote target hosts, for File-based Discovery and Windows ADME [2].
3. Wider credential-less scans
Credential-less Discovery can now check UDP ports as well as TCP, and guess a target's operating system when it cannot confirm an exact match. Both are off by default and enabled per MID Server property: mid.discovery.credentialless.include_udp_scan and mid.discovery.credentialless.include_os_scan_guess [2]. A guessed OS is still a guess — worth deciding how those CIs are treated by identification rules before turning it on.
Where the other families stand
ServiceNow's Q4 2026 patching targets are Australia Patch 5a, Zurich Patch 12 and Yokohama Patch 13 Hotfix 5a, and the Brazil release notes include upgrade paths from Australia, Zurich and Yokohama [1][3].
What we ask
We ask ServiceNow ITOM developers how they would find every custom script that depends on a deprecated platform function before a patch window. The useful answer involves a code search across script includes, patterns and integrations — and a test that proves relationships are still being written afterwards.
